Are you working remotely with a Moroccan company from your country? Are you receiving online payments and uncertain about whether you should pay taxes in Morocco? This guide is tailored for you!
According to the recently enacted 2024 financial law, any foreign individual collaborating with a Moroccan company is required to pay a Value-Added Tax (VTA). While the specific amount is yet to be determined, the procedural steps are somewhat outlined.
Note: This regulation exclusively applies to foreign individuals engaged with Moroccan companies. If you are Moroccan, please refer to this page instead.
The Process
For those to whom this applies, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to file your taxes and make payments:
- Create an account on the online platform: Please be aware that this platform is currently unavailable but is expected to be launched in 2024. I will keep you informed by updating this post once it becomes operational. Consider subscribing to receive an email notification at that time.
- Monthly filing: Log in to your account every month and report your income before the month concludes.
- Online payment: The platform will automatically calculate the taxes owed, and you can conveniently make the payment online.
The specific launch date of this platform remains unclear, but I will ensure to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
Lastly, it is crucial to maintain a record of all your invoices for at least 10 years, as mandated by Moroccan law.
