Best Coffee Shops for working in Casablanca

This is a list of the best coffee shops I tried and recommend for working or studying in Casablanca.

If you want a professional space, like a co-working space, we have another list for that.

The general note given takes into consideration things like power sockets, noise, mood, view, quality of mobile signal… but also others like price, non smoking area, etc.

I dropped the WiFi from this list, as generally speaking, all WiFi’s aren’t that good in coffee shops and you should always bring your own WiFi or tether from your phone.

There are 4 rangs: Bad, Okay, Good, and Excellent. We’ll start from the top and go down.

If you have a coffee shop you want me to test please let me know.

Food House (best coffee shop for working)

Link to Maps

Cheap and very calm as long as you avoid the 12-2 PM. Lot of companies around and people take their lunch there. Their service is good too.

Update (11 Nov 2022): The coffee shop is now a little expensive. But I still recommend it for working.

If you end up there between 12-2 PM, I don’t recommend getting lunch. They usually hurry up and can send you bad food. Just wait until it’s 2:30 or 3 PM before ordering.

I tested various food and they’re not that interesting. Here I’ll give you the top 3 there. If you’re for a lunch, I recommend “Plat Nuggets” (45dh). If you’re there for a breakfast, I recommend “Gourmand” (35dh). Other than that, just go with a tea or a coffee.

They used to have one of the fastest internets I tested. But now it’s crap. I think it’s because they don’t change their password. I take this opportunity to remind you to use your own connection when working from coffee shops. You can also find power sockets everywhere!

ProsCons
+ Calm
+ Non smoking area
+ Cheap
+ Service
+ Power sockets
+ Crowded (12- 2PM)
+ Food
Food House is Excellent for working

Grignotière Palmier

Added 11 Nov 2022.

This is a great and calm coffee for working. The only problem is few power sockets available, all in the green sofa area (inside).

The food is delicious but a little expensive. If you want a recommendation, get the Jus Fruit Rouge (35dh).

Regarding Internet, I recommend getting your own or tethering from your phone. The signal is pretty good in Palmier.

ProsCons
+ Calm
+ Non smoking area
+ Food is delicious
+ Service
+ A little expensive
+ Few sockets
(in the green sofa area only)

All in all, great coffee shop for working. It’s a little expensive and there aren’t many power sockets available.

Starbucks Villa

There are lot of Starbucks in Casablanca, but this one have a good view. Unfortunately, the sockets outside aren’t working. So if you need a power socket, you’re obliged to move inside. Not a deal breaker, because you can work inside then move outside when you finish to get a some sun. The place inside is used by students generally, so it’s very calm for work.

Their prices are a little high. Given I don’t drink coffee, I don’t know if their coffee is that good to justify the price tag.

ProsCons
+ Nice view
+ Power sockets
+ Non smoking area
+ Calm
+ Price

Pomme de pain (best coffee shop for studying)

Pomme de pain is a chain and have lot of coffees in Casablanca. I visited those of 2 Mars and Abdelmoumen. And the experience is practically the same.

There is a place where students study and it’s full of power sockets. Prices are correct and it’s a non smoking area. So all good!

Given there are lot of students, the place is a little noisy and there is a big chance you’ll find it crowded. But overall, very good for working.

ProsCons
+ Good food
+ Power sockets
+ Price
+ Non smoking area
+ Noisy
+ Crowded

Luxurious

Excellent food, quality service, and cozy place. If you want some concentration, I recommend going up.

Price is a little bit higher than average and people are smoking everywhere. Which I can’t stand. It’s also crowded if you go between 12 and 2 PM. Which is normal.

Power sockets are in a few places only. Be sure to head there with a fully charged battery or check where the sockets are before choosing a place.

As a recommendation, I would suggest their “Gourmand” breakfast. It’s a complete breakfast for 40dh.

ProsCons
+ Cozy
+ Calm
+ Good food
+ Quality service
+ Price
+ Smoking
+ Crowded (12- 2PM)
+ Power sockets

Villa Plazza

Update: The cafe isn’t well maintained recently and their service is terrible.

This is probably the cafe with the most amazing view you can get.

It’s basically a villa turned into a café. The service is excellent and probably the best service in this list. The food is good but the prices are a little high. A soda will cost you 25dh if I remember correctly.

The power sockets are there but not very apparent. You need to look under the tables and you’ll find them. Given you’re outside, the mobile signal is good. There is also a small garden where children play, so you can use it too if you want to take a break.

There is an inside part too if you prefer, but I never tested it. I love sun, so I always head in the outside area.

ProsCons
+ Calm
+ Awesome service
+ Spacious
+ Amazing view
+ Power sockets
+ Price is high
+ Unmaintained cafe
+ Bad service
Villa Plazza is Okay for working

Bondi Coffee Kitchen

Good space. Minimalist decoration. Minimal noise. And lot of power sockets.

I find the prices to be exaggerated. Lot of hipsters. And the tables aren’t comfortable if you plan to work for a long period of time.

Charif

Link to Maps

The place is modern, cozy, and calm as long as you don’t go between 12-2 PM. There are lot of schools around and they lunch there.

They also have delicious pastry. If you head there, I recommend the “fourée aux amandes“.

My concern is that they have a low mobile signal inside. Tethering from your phone is nearly impossible. I had a hard time trying to get a good signal there.

The space up is a non smoking area with a view on their kitchen. It makes a really nice decoration. Power sockets are nearly inexistants.

Their service is impolite toward customers. I heard two waiters arguing in the center of the cafe, with a high voice, about who should get the tip left by a customer.

To have an idea about the prices:

  • Tea: 15dh
  • Orange juice: 20dh
  • Breakfast: +25dh
ProsCons
+ Cozy
+ Calm
+ Good food
+ Non smoking area
+ Bad mobile signal
+ Crowded (12- 2PM)
+ Service
+ Power sockets

Crozette Café

The non-smoking area is inexistent. The place smells cigarettes.

Other than that. It has a lot of power sockets, and the food is good.
