Software engineering

The art of making a product!

There is a rise in the software market driven by startups and companies taking advantage of the new collaboration tools. When searching for remote jobs online, you’ll likely find more jobs asking for software engineers than anything else.

Software engineering is building products using code. Given that the majority of startups are using code to fix problems, there is always a need for software engineers worldwide. And you can take part in it too.

Sales & Marketing

The art of selling a product!

With the rise of social media, marketing can now be done from home. Salespeople also fall in this category as they can reach customers using email and/or phone.

If you are a salesperson and spend your day talking to potential customers. Or if you are working with a marketing team and have a solid experience in social media. You are likely to find a remote job in this area.

Writing

The art of seducing your customers!

Writing is another hidden gem in the remote working world. In this field, you’ll be the content creator for a company. You’ll take care of the blog to drive new customers or to communicate with existing ones.

To work in this role, you’ll need an online presence and experience in blogging. Generally speaking, a personal blog can help you here. But any prior freelance jobs are also a good thing.

Just to note that writing is important in any remote job, not only if you want to be a writer and/or content creator. Learn why here.

Design

The art of creating an identity!

Your job as a designer is to give identity to the product, website, and/or any material used by the company. For example, pitching decks, package design, etc.

You’ll be required to have a portfolio of your work to show. It can be real work done for a company, or you playing in your free time with some mockups.

If you’re working on interfaces for apps or websites, you are expected to know user experience (UX). It’s the art of knowing your customers, which plays a big role in your choice of colors, layout, and more.

Customer Support

The art of bringing a smile to the faces of customers!

You’ll be in charge of making the clients happy by answering their requests and helping them with their problems. You need to be a good communicator by phone, email, or video chat (depending on the client and/or industry)

For technical companies, they may expect you to have some basic technical knowledge. Or sometimes, experience using their product or service.

  1. I moved to Morocco about 8 months ago to be with my husband we are having issues getting him to the USA with me so the only other option is to try to find some kind of work I can do here from our home. Like customer service or something anything. I’m no software engineer but I do good with customer support. I only speak English and we don’t live in Casablanca or a big city we live in a small village an hour outside of Marrakech. He’s worried constantly about how he will take care of us and all I want to do is help my husband. Do you have any suggestions on what I could do or if you know of any place that I could work for from home here please let me know. We want to start a family and we can’t do that without a source of income.😭
