6 daily tips for remote workers after working remotely for one year

When working remotely. It’s a different mindset with different challenges. You can read more about this in my personal blog.

After adapting to this new environment for one year, I developed some tips I use daily. Those tips are:

1. Avoid rush hours

Given you have the possibility to avoid rush hours, please do. Lunching somewhere? Avoiding rush hours will make your lunch taste better and cooked with no rush.

2. You can work flexible hours

I forget this a lot. I forget I can work at night if I can’t in the morning. Take this to your advantage. If I have something to do in the morning, I usually start working after finishing.

3. Bring your own WiFi wherever you go

I’ve already said this in my post about gear for working remotely. But I want to say it another time. Always bring your own WiFi or tether from your phone. Do not waste your time fighting coffee shop’s WiFi. That time is useful somewhere else.

4. Note what you need to have in your backpack

Working remotely means working from home. But also from coffee shops. And this means having a backpack full of what you need.

Make sure to note anything you need so you can work effectively. My list is:

  • Phone & laptop chargers
  • Headphones
  • A light jacket
  • Sunglasses
  • A book (see next why)
  • Water bottle

5. Take a book with you

Staring at your laptop all day is harmful. Always bring a book to give your eyes a break (or something else, as long as it’s not an electronic device)

6. Walk

I usually work in nearby coffees. So I can walk to enjoy the sun. But most importantly, to be more active.
